I think we are looking at a loss of our
freedoms within a very short while. I
have become extremely worried over the last few weeks, enough so to share this
with you. There is more to come. Please read the following quotes from Ezra
T. Benson and the links that illustrate what he is saying we will come to.
A

No, he is not talking about the Mafia and not
just about Communist Russia nor the new Russia, but a determined effort to
destroy us. That should sound
familiar.
Now quoting from page 106 –107
...
As, and if, we
move toward that condition there will be gradual loss of our freedom, an
increase of the inducements for the acceptance of communism, and a
corresponding increase of the pressures to destroy or remove all opponents and
all opposition to the communist advance.
There
would be a further huge expansion of government and of its control over our
economy, education, medical services, and every detail of our family and
individual lives.
During
such a period, it is reasonable to expect – unless sufficient brakes are put on
the present stampede to the left, we will get exactly what the
communist-socialist coalition is planning – the nationalization of insurance,
transportation, communications, utilities, banks, farms, housing, hospitals,
and schools. To take over our schools
the educational systems will first have been federalized and then prostituted
entirely to serving the propaganda need of the state planners with absolutely
no regard for truth or scholarship or tradition. Already we have moved substantially in that direction.

Yes, one guy wrote all but one of the articles, however I want you to get a flavor of what is actually happening, he is not the only one promoting these schemes and thoughts. There is serious movement in the bailout process that can cause nationalization of industries to occur. If the government owns 51% of a company in return for providing some funding, that is nationalization. The government has absolutely no mandate to be in business, and yet it is moving further along the road to communism. You may or may not be aware of the Church’s statement on communism from 1936:
“Communism is not a political party nor a political plan under the Constitution; it is a system of government that is the opposite of our Constitutional government. …
“Since Communism, established, would destroy our American Constitutional
government, to support Communism is treasonable to our free institutions, and no
patriotic American citizen may become either a Communist or supporter of
Communism. …
“We call upon all Church members completely to eschew [shun] Communism. The safety of our divinely inspired Constitutional government and the welfare of our Church imperatively demand that Communism shall have no place in America” (signed: Heber J. Grant, J. Reuben Clark, Jr., David O. McKay, The First Presidency, in Deseret News, 3 July 1936; italics added).
There is more but I think you get the picture. We have a problem here and now, today, it is communism, it is those who are promoting it. The recent government stimulus package is a big problem and moves us into the very real problem of a bankrupt nation – quoting from Pres Benson again:

The most
common method of increasing the money supply today is by spending more than is
in the treasury, and then merely printing extra money to make up the
difference. Technically this is called
“deficit spending.” Ethically, it is
counterfeiting, Morally, it is wrong. (his italics)

If need be, re-examine where you are and especially where your effort should be . It’s time to speak up, act, and participate. We must be in harmony with the Gospel plan and not be seduced by the rhetoric and reasoning of those around us. Dad asked me once in high school if I was following or leading the sheep.
